The name "Desert Hermits" has been with me for a while in various ways, but here it points to how writing is deeply personal, but can still reach far beyond oneself. Something solitary, carrying a message far and wide. Maybe others read the written words directly, or maybe writing for yourself, looking internally, makes you more available for those around you. I think about the prayers of the monastics: a deeply personal endeavor that still serves a community, or perhaps even the entire world.
